Is India changing?

Praveen S V
Oh yes. Definitely, India is changing. An incident happened just 5 days ago, just proved my point.A college girl in Andhra didn’t attend the college on a particular day, last week. It is a norm in her college, that if a student is absent on a particular day, his/her absence will be intimated to their parents via SMS.The college girl’s parents got SMS informing about their daughter’s absence. When her parents asked about it, the college girl revealed that gruesome incident. Her botany lecturer Ramesh Naik had misbehaved with her by driving her to the outskirts of the town, tying her hands and legs, sexually assaulted her.The angry parents marched towards the college attacked Ramesh and tied him to a tree and thrashed him badly. After beating him black and blue, they took him to a police station.Ramesh pleaded innocence and requested the police administration to check with college administration if he was in college that day. The college administration, the faculties, friends and students of the college confirmed to police that Ramesh was indeed in college the day, the girl accused him of molesting her. When police looked on to CCTV images, they saw Ramesh attending classes, sitting in the staff room and spending time in the office room, the same day he was accused by the girl of molesting her. Infact Ramesh did not leave the college, until the late evening. When it was proved that the girl is lying, the girl admitted that she had gone out with a boy and lied. They released the lecturer. The girl’s father after beating the innocent men black and blue after tied him to the tree, in repentance went to the college on Tuesday morning to apologise to the lecturer but was detained by angry lecturers and students.(Source: Andhra Pradesh: CCTV footage saves innocent lecturer from disgrace )I just don’t know whether the body of a man is this much cheap, that you can thrash him, just because a girl is accusing and later go on to apologizing him like, ‘Sorry I beat you in every part of your body since my girl falsely accused you, but right now, I came to know, you are innocent. So sorry’..Oh really? The police later informed that they did not file any case against the college girl, considering her future.Oh ya, the girl just tried to destroy the future of innocent men, just to spend a day with her boyfriend, but of course, great Indian law has no provision to arrest someone, who literally tried to destroy someone.THANK GOD TO CCTV, In absence of CCTV, what would have happened?. This is just one single incident. Despite that, still, we have people saying, ‘Rape case acquitted doesn’t means, it is fake’.As per NCRB’s 2016 data, more than 63% of the cases filed against men is fake. This 63% do not include cases that were acquitted because of lack of evidence. This is the exact scenario of Indian men. One fake 498 (A), you are done, doesn’t matter even if you are a saint. The situation in India right now, is as same as the situation of France, after the French revolution. In the last century of India, women were denied justice and equality and at present, even the IPC hardly cares about men.India is definitely changing. The role of offender and victim of the last century just got swapped.(Edit: Any comment trying to justify the incident or giving analogy like, ‘But women are suffering more’ will be deleted. This ain’t the Olympics where we decide who suffers more. Some people telling that analogy every time, just to cover up the injustice being faced by men. Indian men are just denied justice, by IPC itself. Very simple)

Alok Kumar Singh
The lecturer is an idiot! He should have filed FIRs against that girl student for making false rape claim and against her parents for lynching. May another incident like this happen to him again in future.

Praveen S V
Is there a provision in IPC to file a complaint against false molestation case? I don’t think there is a provision for that.

Akhil Singh
Yes, there is such provision. Also he could have filed case of defamation, lynching by girl's parents. India isn't changing at all in this aspect because nothing happened to that girl. No action has been taken as per your answer. That lecturer was beaten black and blue, he faced disgrace, got humiliated by people around for few days until cctv footage proved him innocent. His career was also at stake. All this happened because of that girl's false accusations, and nothing happened to that girl. How can you say that India is changing? At least not in this aspects of false molestation cases

Aniket Tripathi
I think also he can file a case for mental harassment and for diminishing his image and also he can file for compelling him for suicidal thoughts due to discriminated behavior of society after complaint.

Ravi Raj
He just needs an advocate and blast the family to hell

Joga Rao

“The police did not file a case against the girl considering her future”.what do you infer from this? Are the police so kind hearted that they forgave the girl for such a serious crime? The lecturer did not pursue the case because he is also kind hearted? Look beyond the obvious. The father of the girl is most probably a very powerful man and neither the police nor the lecturer wanted to pursue the case. The lecturer would be risking his job. As for the police, they have to take orders from their higher ups.

Balaji Viswanathan
This week I landed in San Francisco and walked into a T-Mobile store to get a new sim card for my trip. I asked for plans and the store clerk asked if I wanted a 2 GB plan or a 5 GB plan. I said 2 GB/day is fine when they replied it is for a month! In India I get over 60 GB/month of mobile data, but I was fascinated that top data plans in US don’t get anywhere near that. That is one tiny example of how India is changing. At a time when we are moving everything from education to healthcare to governance to entertainment, shopping and security online, the data availability is a key element to a nation’s success. It was impossible to think even 5 years ago that India would get ahead of the US in this! India’s mobile data usage is among the highest in the world! Average mobile data usage at 11 GB a month: Nokia. When I left India in 2004, we were talking of a teledensity [number of phones/people] in single digits. Not only everyone has a phone now, but the smartphone penetration is getting universal by 2020.About 12 years ago, my grad school friends and I were spending an evening doing some tech predictions for India. When will Google Maps come to India? Given the complexity of Indian roads, maybe 2040. How about ubiquitous wifi hotspots? Maybe 2030. How about the ability to seamlessly rent cars? When will an equivalent of social security number to connect all accounts? Maybe 2050.Our predictions were remarkably off. By 2016, Indians were massively using Ola/Uber powered by Google Maps. It was the default option to get anywhere. In no time India has brought the entire country in Aadhar ecosystem and drastically simplified many things. Recently I lost my mobile phone. I just walked into a nearby Airtel store, gave my thumbprint for Aadhar authentication, and got the sim card deactivated and new sim card activated in less than 2 minutes.Urban Indians are seamlessly shopping online and increasingly trying out new technologies. Technology gap between the US and India has reduced remarkably.Ten years ago, I visited India to meet my family and the US, to get technology. Now, the situation is getting reversed. When I left India for the first time in 2004, our airports sucked and the US airports like JFK, LAX and Logan looked way better. Now, our airports in Bangalore, Mumbai and Delhi are remarkably more convenient than the ones in the US and Europe. Mumbai, Delhi emerge as world’s best airports in global passenger surveyOur highway networks were horrible at the start of this century. Now, I can zip across the countryside in the new highways at speeds comparable to US interstates. And to do that I can rent a car from Zoomcar or equivalent in a far more seamless way than I do in the US with Avis or Hertz.Sure, our cities like Bangalore have horrible traffic and freak the hell out of visitors. But, that will improve too.Our cities are all getting Metros and if you are connected to the metro [such as in Delhi], the commute is much more convenient than the BART in SF and T in Boston and the coverage is rapidly growing and in about 5 years I expect to see viable metro rail connections in all major cities of India. How metro rail networks are spreading across IndiaThe middle class homes in India have amenities pretty much the same as the middle class homes in the US. I find the difference getting less and less.Sure, some of the basic facilities are still weak. But, they are improving too. Rural India will reach 100% toilet coverage by December 2018Electricity is still a problem, but we are slowly solving that. Electricity reached all Indian villages on Saturday. Still millions of individuals homes to get electrified but the hope is they will all get it in next 2 years. India's $ 2.5 billion scheme to electrify every household explained.Domestic fuel is still a problem, but we have been rapidly converting homes to LPG. India becomes second largest domestic LPG consumer. A few years ago only middle class homes could afford LPG and that too after a long wait to get the connection. Use of kerosene, diesel falls, LPG consumption rises on clean energy drive.Rural India is changing too and getting students to schools. From 100 per cent child labour to academics, this Tamil Nadu village tells a different tale.A generation ago we were ripped apart by terrorism and violence. We would hear of bomb blasts or cities under siege. Those have fallen dramatically. http://satp.org/Datasheets.aspx?... At a time when rest of the world is quite violent, India is among the most peaceful. And we are trying some bold new ideas. India Wants to Give Half a Billion People Free Health Care and India launches world's biggest healthcare program. And we are jumping directly to renewable energy in a big way. The World's Largest Solar Plant Is Now Online. We have a long way to go and enormous problems to solve in education, employment, water, gender equality and clean air. Our generation has a unique opportunity to get these solved and turn a developing nation into a developed nation. The question is do you want to sit in an already developed nation (that is fact in decline) and leave no legacy behind, or get your hands at solving real problems and leave behind a real legacy. The question is do you have the man [or woman] in you to face the real problems or just spend all your energy escaping it and live a life of anonymity. Will India get developed by the time I die? Yes, we will.We are getting there. And we WILL get there!India Dreams Collection: Ideas for changing India.

http://satp.org/Datasheets.aspx?..

I would like to mention the name of the Prime Minister who is currently leading this forward March. Narendra Damodardas Modi!Additional info for American readers :At Devanahalli, I pay Rs 699 per month ($10.75 per month) for a 30Mbps Broad band connection with a limit of 100 GB of data per month at this 30Mbps speed and unlimited data at some slower speed. I operate my laptop that is permanently connected to the net and my wife uses her Ipad and her smart phone too, all connected through a wifi router. Since we don't download movies this limit of 100 GB is more than enough for our modest needs. For my newly purchased Reliance Jio phone I pay Rs 49/- per month for unlimited calls. That’s just 75 cents per month for unlimited voice calls anywhere India. (Believe it or not!). The instrument cost is Rs 1500 ($23) and this is refundable to me after 3 years. But petrol is ridiculously costly in India.

Balaji Viswanathan
Not just due to Modi. Sure he is doing great, but many state governments are run by quite effective leaders. It is also continuous progress over time.

Vishal Khopkar
Modi should be appreciated because he is responsible for creating a business ecosystem in the country. During the times of the Congress govt, telecom operators feared the govt like anything? Remember the Vodafone tax case

Kumar Saurav
Yuuuup true about telecom business… now see they are running the government
