Not USA and china . USA was mostly defending south Vietnam until they withdrew. Never launched an invasion .

Well known aspect? For Americans and Vietnamese maybe? Outside these two countries, that's not really a big deal enough to be covered in depth in history books.
I have learnt more history from Wiki, Reddit and Quora than was in 5 years of history books. But irrespective of that, the one thing I now know for sure, is that there is no topic that anyone knows everything about.

Depends on your definition of beat. The USA left Vietnam because the American People rose up and said stop this insanity. Give the Vietcong and the North Vietnamese the credit for holding it together and hanging in there long enough for common sense to prevail.

Largest population? The largest population by today’s standard is about 1.3 Billion. That’s 13x of what they are today.
So Vietnam will have the same population of China, but at 1/30th the space. Doesn’t that sound like a disaster? Ho Chi Minh City is already crowded. You sure cannot imagine 13x of that.

Although I don't like China, I have to admit that Vietnam's rapid development has a lot to do with China. They have developed to a very high level, so some industries have begun to be exported to Vietnam. Coupled with the struggle between China and the United States, Vietnam has gained some additional benefits.
