India is only country in world which is rich in resources and therefore one can live here without work as they get free food under food security bill.

Even after independence in 1947, India keeps on adding to its poor by illegal infiltration of poor from Bangladesh and now even from Pakistan.
All the gains and resources are being absorbed by illegal migrants and the original inhabitants of India, the Hindus are fast dwindling. The population of accredited total Pakistanis and Bangladeshis in India is increasing fast which after just 50 years will surpass Hindus in subcontinent.

Well, I can only talk about my own experience.
But I had a pretty daft perception.
I felt I was pretty well read, well educated and “worldly”. I was only 28 so that’s pretty hilarious in hindsight.
I assumed I would not hear any rock music, would not be able to get beef, would find it difficult to get western clothes, would have to eat curry every day, people wouldn’t speak much English, and wouldn’t know much about the west.

I learnt about radio Indigo in Bangalore in my first few days there. It’s an English radio station which plays rock music, new music and I was very surprised to hear Australian singer John Farnham! There are lost of pubs in Bangalore which play rock and pop music, in fact I can’t think of anywhere to go to hear Bollywood music.

I am proud Indian living in US. I respect American culture as well. I salute those Americans who trust Indian doctors and employees.
I salute those Indian teachers who taught such talented doctors.

Generally, people think India as poor country. Dirty, pollutions, uncivilized, densely populated, cultured, Bhudda's place, are the words described to India.
The moment you are in India, poverty is no surprise. You will recall the story of Buddha. And feel what he actually felt. You can see few skyscrapers but you will see 100s of miles filled with small huts. Beggers, old age, sick, crowded, dirt, you have to literally stop and give way to cows that are just wondering in towns. I have seen security guards with guns in front of police stations. And that was very strange. The rivers are polluted like literally can't even stay near. The smell is so awful. Forget swimming.
It's just opposite of China. Something is really wrong in India.

I think it overall differs depending on who's having this perception.
But I think India is generally associated with Hindu gods and spirituality, meditation, reincarnation, vegetarianism, yoga, Bollywood, Miss World always being an Indian, the Himalayas and yogis, sarees, bindis and holy cows, also (nearly forgot) Kama Sutra…

2) A lot of people eat vegetarian food. I didn’t realize vegetarian food could be as good as non-vegetarian food. Probably the best country in the world for vegetarian food.

I agree that perception of India abroad is not generally good .They think that India is still in late 17 th century .Govt should publicise modern India in media abroad .Embassies overseas can do much in this matter .Promotion of Tourism is another good option .
