200+ million salary in a year when there was a round of layoffs (and hinted that there can potentially be more)

Setting aside layoffs (though it is difficult to do), does he deserve this amount. Did he provide equivalent, or more, value to the company. Or is he getting paid because he is the CEO of a company that makes a lot of money. This company probably would have had similar revenue / profits without Sundar at the top.
It is very difficult to identify Sundar’s decisions that helped the company. On the other hand it is very easy to list all of his failed decisions:

Gmail Inbox
Directing company’s resources towards messaging apps. (Remember Allo, Duo. Exactly)
Virtual assistants
Now LLMs

Allo,Duo)

It is normal (and should be encouraged) that leaders take risky decisions. But someone who has a consistent record of failures or following latest fads (and dragging entire company along) should be called out. It would be great if he (or other leaders) do a post-mortem and publish lessons learnt from past mistakes. But all we get is sound bites in 60 minutes interviews.
