As someone who grew up as a foster kid bouncing from house to house I can confirm that not only many foster "parents" but some caseworkers are just evil people that society would just be better off erasing from existence.

Foster parents here:
My wife and I became foster parents in order to care for and adopt if possible abandoned babies in the NICU. We have not taken and toddler or children because we learned super quick this is one of the creepiest organizations ever. The only good thing about it are the volunteers (Christian organizations are the vast vast majority of the volunteers) the moment you encounter a paid staff member you are very likely to encounter one of the strangest people you ever met.
All that said taking care of the babies and adopting them when it's all said and done os amazing and truly just words can not justify the joy in my heart from it. And this kids are the ones born on drugs and near death, abandoned etc.

I'm so confused about the foster system. I don't know a lot about it, but I assume it's a person's own choice to become foster parents, right? Why even become foster parents if you hate kids and can't treat them right?

Finally, someone is telling the truth of what happens in foster care. I was taken away from my mother, who was chronically ill and had to work too much to supervise me well. I was put in a home with a crack dealer and a woman still very embroiled in the streets (she was supposedly a survivor), both in active addiction. One worked in the system, like this woman. I don’t believe being a criminal, or even addicted, automatically makes you a bad parent…many are loyal to their blood. But to put children in the hands of unrelated criminals, rather than their parents, is likely to end in corruption, if not exploitation. I hate to say that, because I think people who HAVE beaten addiction and the streets can make THE best counselors, youth workers, and foster parents. You’ve got to have good oversight, and stay involved with the kids over time. Parents can also get better. Give them second chances, before strangers but, always, put child safety first! This is a travesty!

Sorry you had to experience such a horrible act from adults that are suppose to protect you and all your mom did was what she was suppose to do along with having a chronic illness. They should be paying your mother so she wouldn’t have had to work so much while battling an illness! But instead send you to a stranger & give them whatever $$. That makes zero sense!

@gökotta thats not always true. plenty of people have evil families as well. there are people you find in life who love you unconditionally that you can trust, but that isnt always blood

@Cloud Queen I agree with you! I studied this in my Sociology BA, and children are statistically more likely to be abused in foster care than with family. I’m not saying don’t have foster homes. I WAS abused and exploited when my bio mom was at work. She could be emotionally abusive, and was in denial about SA going in the family and neighborhood, though SHE had been molested and turned out, in the past. She did often spend her every waking moment helping with my homework and activities, when she wasn’t too sick. I needed a safe foster home or children’s home, while she got counseling. I do think if we’re going to disrupt families, we must be sure children are brought somewhere safer. Otherwise, put those same resources into rehabilitating families of origin. Not in cases where the caregiver is an SA or assault perpetrator, but most neglect cases start with poverty, addiction, denial, ignorance…things that can be treated. I worked closely with CPS, attending their meetings. The main “rehab” offered in my state is to tell parents to attend parenting classes, treatment, meetings. mental health and other programming that stretches them even thinner. Financial help, education, vocational rehabilitation, and home support help a lot of people. I wasn’t vulnerable when my mom had a good job. I asked to be in structured activities, and she paid for it. Then I wasn’t running the streets or around questionable relatives. My mom needed counseling and supervision, no doubt. And I would have been ok in a healthy foster home. We have to make sure kids are safe, one way or another. Hopefully, a combination of both. I’m so happy there are good foster homes. Practices like vouchering kids into hotels alone and placing them in unsafe environments is what I don’t like. They vouchered me into an adult drug & prostitution motel alone at 16, too. Kids got turned out in days, by the addicted residents. I found out later, a school bus stopped there for kids every day, after my A honor roll status turned to Fs (my “bussed” school was miles off the city bus line). Nobody told me a school bus ran there! Whatever the solution, that ain’t it! Telling kids to do dates for money and neglecting to get them to school or allow them their free school lunch card (like my foster parent) has to stop. Unlike today, where the cafeteria gives inferior meals, I starved every day (in the 90s). Safety and food are children’s rights!

Yes but as CPS workers with degrees in counseling and more in order to get this job which is why these kids are in their hands. This woman was trying to traffick this girl and how many others unlike this child she told to do this and they did because again they have know one.Wichita is why she not only needed to be fired but put in jail,investigated to find if there are more girls involved.Yes the mother had problems with her daughter but she had out in her a strength ,know her mother loved her just wanted her to stop her behaviors.With all this she knew what this woman said to her was wrong and decided taped her.Also if her mother had said this to her she would have been arrested so why was this CPS case worker was not knowing she was trying to traffic this girl and maybe others.

@gökotta can’t trust an abusive family and a system that won’t take you because they don’t believe you no matter how much proof you supply. You’d think evil guardians would be inclined to get you out of their house but it’s much more common for them to try and keep you around so you suffer… just from experience :(

She was terminated, they just used government-speak. She was support staff, basically a caseworkers' assistant. They get paid a pittance and stay very busy, so in metro areas at least, you typically don't get amazing employees working that job.

That CPS worker sounds like a trafficker. I work with young victims of sex trafficking and in my trainings I teach that traffickers can be ANYONE - a parent, a boyfriend/girlfriend, your boss, or a child welfare employee- ANYONE!!! Mom may be having trouble with her daughter but she clearly instilled some strong values in her. She’s a smart girl who knows her worth.
