Chickens die of over heating, like humans. Not sure what the investigation is supossed to uncover. That chicken barns don't have air conditioning?

It is more complicated than that. The way battery farms are set up, chickens inside are so densely packed that they use more air than is available for them to breathe. Large fans are required to run 24/7 or the chickens start dying regardless. Fluctuations in temperature cause the chickens to require more air. If a farm is being run at a bare minimum air-flow for the sake of maximizing profits then it wont be able to handle spikes in temperature. The investigation is just for show, nothing will happen.

Meat birds already suffer from over heating due to their rapid weight gain, their legs snap due to their weight and they can’t move to get water. They start losing their feathers/picking them out to try and cool off and begin panting, and they cannot get cool. The way chicken meat is harvested is vile and inhumane. No animal should be treated like that. Farms that raise birds in a sustainable and humane are really how we should be doing it, but big corporations can’t make enough money that way, so they stuff thousands of birds bred to grow more than they should and collapse under their own weight.
The egg industry isn’t much better. Look up Battery hens/ ex battery hens. They look horrible, until people willingly save them and nurse them back to health. The chickens lay 2 eggs per day, as the light is on all day and it disrupts their sleep schedule. A chicken should lay only one egg every 24-48. They get cuts/bumble foot on their legs and feet from the wire cages. They never walk around, and the calcium needed for the egg shells is taken from the skeleton means they usually have broken/weak legs, and brittle bones in general. They also have overheating problems and peck out their feathers due to stress. Often times they are covered in chicken feces because the cages are stacked on top of one another.

This is part of why we need to heavily invest and adopt vitro meat and hydroponic technologies. Ideally, I'd like my animal cells drawn from a very happy farm animal. If we change the birth to slaughter process to birth to old age death then we can heavily reduce animal suffering.

In the egg industry these breeds have been made to produce over 300 eggs a year, wild jungle fowl in which they were bred from only produced a dozen or two. Breeding egg layers also ends up with male chicks literally being thrown alive into a grinder.

I'm not a chicken farmer, so I wouldn't be able to even make a educated guess. My point is, this isn't the first time the UK has experienced high temperature weather. This was higher than normal and for a longer period of time. What did they do before when it was just a day or two of high temperatures? I would assume that it would still kill chickens regardless of it being a day or 3 days.
But again, I am not a chicken farmer, so that's just my assumption.

The temperatures we are seeing now are abnormal highs caused by climate change. 40 degree Celsius was literally the hottest day ever recorded in the UK so it's not something we ever planned for in a temperate country like the UK. The average temperature of a "heatwave" until now has been 30 degrees Celsius.

Not surprising. I live in the desert and our free-range chickens with cooling stations and shade still die in the heat. Most breeds seem to prefer cooler weather, and don’t survive the heat well.

They don’t deserve to suffer but it’s literally what they were created and born to do for human desires. If you eat meat this shouldn’t bother you, you were already paying for them to suffer.
