student from China’s southern city of Guangzhou nearly missed getting to his gaokao college entrance exam because he was locked inside his home. Rescuers managed to free him just in time to join the millions of students across the country who started sitting this year’s edition of the gruelling tests on June 7, 2022. The usual challenges of the gaokao have only deepened this year. The class of 2022 is also known as the “pandemic generation”, because they are the first students to have gone through all three years of China''s high school curriculum amid Covid-19 disruptions. Challenges have included having to bounce between online and in-person classes and adapting to frequent coronavirus testing, lockdowns and sudden classroom closures.

In my country, students aren''t that pressured to passed an exam similar to this for a competitive society but i guess my country had the highest qualifications for an applicant because even if they''re hiring dishwasher in a restaurant , it has to be a college graduate

Meanwhile my UK high school exams (you can go to college here at any age, 16 -80+, its university thats the tough one) FAILURE IN 99% OF SUBJECTS. (I got an A in Administration without revising) I dropped out school at 16, did a college course or 2 since at that age it was paid for by the government and I got money for being in education. Then after that just pottered around helping on the farm for a bit, early 20s attempted to get a job, lasted 8 weeks, had a panic attack, got hoofed out, went on disability and now back at home pottering around on the farm getting government money for being extremely mentally ill. I bought a horse.. For health purposes. He helps me with going outside and being around people (I have extreme anxiety constantly but its worse around people, hence why I cant actually get a job because everything involves people at some point)
