After just one day, the entire planet would be plunged into darkness.
Most fossil fuel power stations would shut down, causing cascading blackouts worldwide, once they ran out of fuel. Solar panels and wind turbines would still be able to generate electricity in some areas of the planet, but eventually, they would stop working after a few months or a couple of years.

Pets still trapped inside their houses would be able to eat food in kitchens, but eventually their food supply would run out, and their only choice would be to escape and look for food elsewhere.
But the truth is that a lot of animals would not be able to survive. Many dog and cat breeds would be simply unfit for this new environment and they would be hunted down by animals like wolves.

Food everywhere would be rotting. Without power, there would be no refrigeration, and with no refrigeration, our food supply would start to decay.

The equivalent of 20 cores worth of radiation would be released into the environment, and nothing would be safe for miles in each direction. This would also cause some nuclear reactors to explode violently.
After several months, without people to keep them at bay, wild animals would start returning to the urban landscape.
Animals such as coyotes, bobcats, among others, would be the first new residents, followed by animals like bears, cougars, etc.

After one year, plant vegetation would start taking over. Weeds and grass would start growing in cracks in roads and highways.
Buildings would start getting overrun by plants and ivy. Plants would start to take root in stone and masonry work, and they would start to damage the foundations of buildings.
A lot of animal species would also flourish in our absence. Animals like the giant panda, the Asian elephant, among others, had to put up with humans destroying their habitats, and hunting them down for various reasons. If humans were to disappear, these animals would be extremely happy. Granted, they still would have things to worry about, but without humans, one of their biggest threats would be gone forever.

Without firefighters to keep these fires at bay, they will spread quickly and raze entire cities to the ground. After a few years, trees, vines, moss, etc, would overrun streets and cities. Most roadways would be hidden under a carpet of grass. Vast lawns would turn into lush forests.
With no more road traffic, one of the major sources of pollution in the world would be gone, and the air would be significantly cleaner.

Cities located in desert environments would start being overtaken by the surrounding sand. Satellites that were put into orbit would start losing their altitude, and fall back to our planet like shooting stars. After two decades or so, concrete structures would begin to crack and crumble, Concrete structures in cold climates would also get damaged by freeze/thaw cycles. Without human maintenance, low-lying cities such as London, Amsterdam and Venice, would be flooded by water. Windows would start cracking and falling from buildings, due to the corrosion of their metal frxs. The interior would be exposed to the elements. Copper lightning rods on top of skyscrapers would have corroded, significantly decreasing their efficiency.
A lightning strike would be able to turn a skyscraper into a towering inferno.

After about four decades, wooden structures, such as small wooden houses, would have crumbled away after decades of termite and mold damage.
With no people to repair them, minor cracks and leaks in earthen dams, will get much worse over time, and eventually cause them to collapse.

Materials such as paper and film can last 200 to 300 years within controlled environments, but when exposed to moisture and unregulated temperatures, they won’t even last a century.
Books are eaten away by mold. Digital media such as CDs and DVDs are nothing more than useless husks. Most photographs have rotted away. Household furniture would be decaying and falling apart. Even our durable trophies are no match for the elements.
After about one hundred years, suspension bridges would have collapsed. After decades without maintenance, their heavily rusted steel cables would not be strong enough to support the weight of the roadway.

After more than one hundred years, abandoned skyscrapers would have eventually become vertical ecosystems. After generations of breeding with wolves, the descendants of domestic dogs would have reverted back into the predators they were before domestication. Dogs now hunt in large packs in order to bring down larger prey, just as their ancestors did thousands of years ago. After more than a century, the oceans would have managed to recover from the effects of human pollution, and sea life would have flourished. Seagulls, once dependant on human refuse, saw their population plummet drastically after we disappeared, but due to the returning fish populations in the ocean, seagulls have made a comeback. Although they managed to survive, their numbers are smaller compared to the numbers they once had.

At this point, a strong gust of wind is all that would take to make these structures collapse. All around the world, our tall, imposing skyscrapers of steel and glass, would also start succumbing to the elements. After two centuries of neglect, great structures such as the Willis Tower and the Empire State Building would finally yield to the forces of nature. Most man-made structures will crumble away in the period between one hundred and three hundred years. After five centuries, most man-made structures would have disappeared. Our once bustling cities, made of steel, glass and concrete, would have been replaced, by vast, lush forests. The remnants of our cities would have been buried under layers of soil, vegetation, etc. There would not be much evidence of modern civilization.

After 10 millenia, there would be very little evidence of mankind. By now, most remnants of our civilization have either been buried, covered over by vegetation and carried away by the tide. But nonetheless, we would leave a lasting legacy.
Animals that escaped from zoos thousands of years ago, would have evolved in order to adapt to their new environment. We would see tigers roaming in European forests or giraffes living in the American Midwest, for example. So the disapperance of mankind would actually create some new animal species.
Our radio and television signals, would have faded away to unrecognizable static, and they would not even be able to reach our closest stellar neighbour.
Amazingly, even after all these years, some man-made structures would still be around.
The Great Wall of China would have aged like a mountain. It would be subject to erosion, but on such a huge timescale, it would still be recognizable thousands of years after our disappearance.

Great granite sculptures like Mount Rushmore, will still be recognizable thousands of years, even millions of years after mankind’s disappearence.

Eventually, they would end up in the sea, and they would slowly be buried under the ground. They would eventually be integrated into sediment layers after millions of years, and become part of the geologic record of our planet.
Is it possible that some future species excavating our planet discover a plastic bottle, or the faded, eerie figure of a plastic toy, used by a human a long time ago?
Another thing that would last millions of years would be our bones. These same archeologists might also stumble upon our fossilized remnants. In the end, all that would last would not be what we made, it would simply be the mineral compounds that made us. Who knows, maybe some apes will be able to evolve, and replace us as the dominant species on the planet, years into the future…

Only issue I have with these types of questions answers, is that there are many original, pure Homo sapiens that live entirely in sync with the natural world around them…Much of the outcomes predicted in this excellent reply could still take place with many differing groups of aboriginal humans who have their ways of life equally ripped up/ disturbed or simply hunted by the same market driven neanderthal hybrid humans. Just look at how many replies sign off on the assumption that it would be better without “us”. Nah, leave the originals outta of this. They didn’t ask to be dragged into this shit show, so why should the scenario see them wiped out?

Applies to our planet which is ruled by Nature. Nature is in charge and we are in constant struggle as humans to maintain our certain way of life versus Natures unending slow methods of claiming victory.
I have visited Mt. Rushmore and recall the tour in the museum of an interview with the sculptor artist Gutzom Borglam saying his masterpiece would last over 10 thousand years that the only causal of damage is ice.
After that length of time 10 thousand years as noted only a sext few mannade structures would be recognized. I would say if we could go back 10 thousand years what structures if any are recognized today that are man made, worth a study.

Now I must go out to my garden and battle Mother Nautre and pull weeds and trim my roses before I am overtaken by Mother Nature.
