Yes we know and we really don’t care. It’s a shame for you guys that you feel so disgusted with our culture and so “above it”. We’ve had friends who moved here and wanted to change it to what they moved from. We think to ourselves GO HOME THEN. Why stay if it’s so terrible? We like it. We don’t think we are a lesser culture. A huge portion of us believe that we were the greatest nation on earth and are basically the falling ROME right now. Capitalism provides the closest chance to equal opportunity to people and middle class options. It doesn’t guarantee the same outcome for those who don’t make good choices to protect their own interests. We realize there are hard scrabble starts and the greatest wealth has come to those people when they made great choices and sough opportunity and SEIZED it. There’s no perfect nation out there. We laugh at you guys too. Seriously, like hard!
My grandparents were immigrants from Europe before WW2, they were excited and proud to come to America for a better life. They left nearly all their worldly possessions behind for the chance to be free and oh how they worked for their freedom.
They were so proud to be American that my Grandfather volunteered as air warden in NYC for any air raids and after Pearl harbor was attacked he signed up for the Navy to defend his Country leaving behind his wife and two children for over three years. My mother was his daughter.
He returned after seeing so much, too much blood and tears the ultimate sacrifice for our Country.
If I hate a restaurant for example, I’m not going to go back, perhaps the staff was rude or the food was terrible, maybe I’d even give it a bad review if my experience was so bad. One thing I’m not going to do is eat there every single night and still complain. I’d kind of look like a fool after all there are other restaurants to go to. I feel the same about those that come to our Country, complaining and badmouthing it and taking all that they’re “entitled” to take (really?).
I’m talking as the granddaughter of immigrant grandparents who did all they could to better future generations in America. I’m proud of my Country, I’m sickened of what is going on however i stand by my Country.
If others don’t like it, write a review and don’t come back. Capeesh!
And this new wave of illegal immigrants don’t give a shit about America. They parade in here flying the flags of their abusive native countries. They are here for dollars, dollars Joe Biden is taking from American citizens to give to these illegal invaders.
Those abroad think so poorly of Americans and feel the need to voice it over and over…but somehow they still need validation that we KNOW it and it BOTHERS us. It is like their own opinion doesn’t matter even to them unless it has an impact on us. If their opinions matter so little to themselves, you can imagine how little it matters to me.
I met a woman who had fled Syria. She told me how grateful she was America existed. She told me how America had opened its arms to her. She was so proud and happy to be in this country, I almost joined her joyous tears.
We are a great country. And we will fight to remain so. There is room for improvement, but those imperfections are because we are the human race.
As for now, God bless America.
Ask yourself this question. If The United States of America is soooo bad and the whole world think we are a terrible country then why in the hell do their citizens want to come to America to be free? We are so bad that over 900,000 of the World citizens LEGALY immigrate to The United States of America not to mention the illegal aliens that come here.
Non American here.
Yes, they are.
Reactions vary.
Some simply won't visit they consider hostile places for Americans. Some take it easy and go there with their America t-shirt.
Vast majority doesn't care - they have the entire world coming to them anyway, so experiencing “new cultures” is not that hard. It is a continental size country with basically all types of landscapes, climates with various types of regions, all that without a language barrier. More than enough to visit for an average person.

A better question would be….
Are YOU aware that we don’t really care what people think who have:
1 - Historically raped the world for their own benefit for hundreds of years, And STILL to this day think they should be in charge and everyone should do what they say should be done!
2 - Were the main beneficiaries of the Slave Trade (Who do you think were collecting and selling them to the US and buying/shipping them to work in their COLONIAL POSSESSIONS?)
3 - Started just about every war before Desert Storm, fighting over those far away lands they deemed as theirs.
4 - Uses unfair trade rules to keep out US goods but complain when we do the same things they do as far as their trade is concerned.
5 - Who have always acted as if they are the elder and more mature thinkers despite the fact they have perpetrated all the immature things I stated above
6 - Who complain about our Immigration policies only to do many of the same things they complained about with us when they were faced with a refugee stampede!
7 - Who have no issues doing business with a country they have sanctioned for bad behavior simply on the basis that it fits their own selfish needs. I guess it’s MATURE to only have morals and stand up to people when it is not inconvenient to you.
No we don’t really care what people like that think!
The proper way to ask the question is, “Do Americans give a shit that they have a poor reputation abroad?” My answer is “nope”. The next question would be, “Does that mean you’ll stop calling on us to save your ass if attacked by a foreign enemy; you’ll stop expecting aid money; pay your fair share to the UN, WHO, and other global organizations, instead of expecting us to pay most of it; stop relying on us for all the greatest medical, scientific, and engineering advancements; and stop flooding our shores and taking our jobs?” Because, if you think so little of us, that should be your natural response.
Who cares what they think? I don’t, and the mass majority of America doesn’t, and how they feel about us won’t change anything.
Does your country do business with China? Does that bother you? How about the oil you might get from Middle Eastern nations that treat homosexuals like paper airplanes? Issues with that? Every other nation has their own problems. We aren’t one of them for the most part. So worry about you and we will worry about us. And do not forget, most of the crap you hear about America is propaganda and BS.
You might think all sorts of things about us, but you can pretty much be assured we are not thinking about you.
Yes, and they correctly don’t care. I’m not super conservative, but I’m definitely right of center. I’m also extremely well traveled. I’ve visited 20+ countries and have friends in most of those countries. When I travel, I much prefer going to bars and interacting with locals rather than visiting traditional tourist locations. Most people I interact with actually have a much more neutral opinion of the US than most assume. If you reading this are American what is your personal opinion of Portugal? Most foreigners have similar opinions of the US, we’re another country of many that have at most a tangential impact on their day to day life. Ok but yes the US has a much larger impact on most countries than Portugal. And due to media coverage, there’s a much bigger opinion of us among foreigners. Fair enough. I’ve met many who are convinced that if you live in the US, every few days you lose a loved one to gun violence. When I mention to them that more die in car crashes than gun violence they do a double take. When I mention that if you’re not committing suicide or involved in gangs your odds of dying to gun violence is negligible people are shocked. When I mention that despite not having a nationalized healthcare system we have the best doctors, the most medical patents, and the best cancer survival rates in the world, they do a double take. The fact is most people from other countries have only heard propaganda about how the US is and is very surprised by some very basic facts. Most have been extremely open-minded and actually thanked me for opening their eyes, while of course some are convinced I’m just lying. Hopefully some of those who think I’m lying have done some research and seen that everything I’ve said is true.
But anyway you have a mix of people who don’t hold to the premise of this question, many people from other nations correctly don’t give a shit about the US, and then you have people who are misinformed about the US. Of course there are some people who don’t like the US based on correct information, but unless you want to discuss much more specific critiques of our country, it’s not particularly worth addressing in this question. Anyone who has traveled realizes that the vast majority of citizens of other countries either don’t care about the US or have an incorrectly negative perception of us.
Indeed, our country is so hideously grotesque and horrible that tens of millions of people come here to visit each year as tourists, millions come to study as students on student visas, and about 1–2 million come here each year to immigrate and permanently reside here [whether legally or illegally].
Hundreds of thousands of people risk their lives to enter the United States each year because the United States is the most worthless, vile, obscene, racist, imperialist power in the history of the world and such powers naturally attract diverse varieties of new-comers by the millions.
Is that about the gist of it?

As opposed to some of the other responses I will try to answer the actual question asked.
Yes, I believe in general that Americans are aware of the USA’s “poor reputation” abroad. This is so well known it somewhat of a joke. As indicated by the other responses it is known but American’s don’t care very much.
As long as the world wants American products, inventions, medicine, programs, etc. Americans seem to be OK with their “poor reputation.
Of course. The difference is we know you’re brainwashed and can’t help it. Look at all the starving people in North Korea who think the US is a worse place to live than North Korea, and that Kim is virtually a God. Europe likes to pretend they are better at certain things like health care, but when you realize that everyone who can comes to the US for treatment that argument becomes pretty hollow. Add to that the fact that the government gets to decide who gets lifesaving treatment and who is left to die, and it becomes even more clear. The world watched in horror a few years ago when that kids could have gotten treatment in the US and lived but the government wanted him to die and refused to allow his parents to leave the country with him for treatment. I suppose it’s really no surprise that Europeans are so comfortable with the government deciding who lives and dies. Just look at their history. They come from a place where kings has ultimate authority of who lives and dies. Everyone who was not a member of royalty only lived if a King allowed it. If the ruler wanted you dead there was nothing you could do about it. They owned your life. This is just a more modern version of that. Americans are different. We come from a place where self-determination and self-reliance are paramount. It’s not any surprise that Europeans subconsciously despise us for that to cover up their envy.

As a rural Missourian, (considered a flyover state in the U.S.A.) we rarely think about how other states much less how other countries perceive us. New York and Los Angeles are as foreign to me as Mongolia or Australia. I can freely admit I am quite ignorant of cultures from all of these regions, but find them fascinating as they are different from my own and enjoy hearing their opinions on world events, as my own culture is quite insular by a large landmass and lower cost of living. (Less opportunity to travel abroad). My community is largely blue collar and is mostly concerned with day to day living and activities. I would assume I am in a similar situation, as most people in developed countries that hear about world events through their regional news source, that it is a far off event that will not affect that I will be going to work tomorrow to maintain a lifestyle for my family. So, sorry to say the opinion of others does not weigh too heavily on my mind when I think of the costs that I need to prepare for in the immediate future.
Hopefully this helps with a bit of understanding of how smaller America can see the world. We rarely consider the effects of our own larger government and what it does and rather pay attention to our local government and how it is going affect our daily routine.
Everybody complains, but just imagine if China, or North Korea, or Iran, or Russia, or Syria, etc… were in America’s position of power. How would you feel if Pakistan were given USA’s power.?
America will go to war if it feels there is a need. Yes, the joke… SPREADING DEMOCRACY means PROTECT THE OIL. But it needs to keep oil flowing which benefits EVERYONE. And when things stabilize, we LEAVE. Do you believe ISIS would capture your country to get rid of a murderous dictator and then leave? And then continue to support it financially?
Considering how poorly you claim the rest of the world thinks of us, there sure are a hell of a lot of you wanting to move here.
