Eleven years after he started martial arts training in central China, American Jake Pinnick has returned to the Wudang Mountains in Hubei province to teach others. Pinnick was a fan of Chinese kung fu since his childhood days in the US state of Illinois, and obsessed over films starring Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, Donnie Yen and Sammo Hung. In 2021, he became a kung fu master at the Wudang Daoist Traditional Kungfu Academy. Pinnick says his ultimate goal is to promote authentic Chinese martial arts in the US.

If it is just the orthography, grammar rules or even the tonal complexity then it is not different any language learning, effort and practice. A single Chinese word often holds deep and profound meaning or superficial if you choose to be. After 50 years, I'm still learning as a native speaker. Perhaps Finnish is indeed the hardest to learn but why don't you consult a Finnish who can speak Mandarin.

You could find Chinese-ethnic people who are specialists in just about any European culture. But the reason why this man in the video is celebrated is because he is rare. Chinese Americans are common; American Chinese are one in a million. That doesn't mean they are necessarily more dedicated, though I am sure this man is very dedicated.

Many people simply integrate into society to varying degrees, but this guy has spent years of his life training and has become something that other Chinese would respect as well.
