Well, we have, at least to some degree, learned from our own mistakes and don''t want other countries to make similar mistakes. Sure, in some way it''s unfair, but deforestation really needs to stop.
Edit: apparently people would like to see massive deforestation of the Amazon rainforest, just because "we" were also allowed to destroy our environment.

You have to be really naive to actually belive that countries like UK, US and France wouldn''t do the same thing if they had control over the amazon.

You could reforest all your developed lands. No more farmland, sprawling cities, or suburbia. Could work on reforesting the 99% of North America that has been deforested.

Do you want to invade coal mining countrys? Country where a Lot of meat is being eaten? With what authority do you want to tell a country how to use their resources if every other country uses theirs as they Like?

It would certainly help cut their emissions, just like how the restrictions due to the outbreak has while people are staying at home.

I agree with you, but the same logic can also be aplied to Brazil. Every single developed contry has already destroyed huge parts of their forests to develop themselfs, now that Brazil is doing the same they want to intervene?

I agree that we need to protect the amazon, but devoloped countries who already destroyed their forests punishing Brazil (or even invading like some people are saying) is not the way do it.
Instead, those countries should should pay Brazil and other developing countries to protect their forests, and I''m talking about paying a real amount, not that joke amount that used to be paid.

I would be against the UK coming in and demanding Brazil to behave one way or another, however number one- the amazon rainforest contributes 6% of the world’s oxygen so its destruction does not affect just Brazil. Along with this, every country has a right to choose what country’s it does and does not want to trade with. If the UK does not want to financially support Brazil due to this deforestation, it is 100% its right to choose what products to stock in its stores

Its not a valid response. Sure they are within their right but its pathetic and hypocritical. These companies are literally propped up by their own countries destructive development and now trying to stop others from achieving the same thing, through economic bullying.
Again, because they are economically powerful because their developed country did it 100 years ago.
Its selfish.

And the UK wouldn’t be where it is today without centuries of foreign capital flowing into it at the dangerous end of a musket.
So should the current citizens of the UK commit themselves to destitution to give back what was taken?

I don’t disagree with you that English imperialism was brutal and evil- as a citizen, reparations for the damage has always been one of the key things I fight for. However, grocery stores refusing to stock Brazilian goods is not an example of imperialism- as I said before, every country has the right to decide whether it wants to trade with another. If Brazil decides it wants to stop supporting the UK it is also its right to stop supplying UK made goods. This would be imperialism if the UK was sending troops to Brazil to force Bolsonaro to stop destroying the rainforest

Except that wasn’t a legitimate response, and the UK owes a lot of countries a lot of reparations for the damage it did. No country has the right to force a country into and out of trade deals- that is imperialism. The fact that the UK has done this in the past is very fucking problematic and warrants anger but it does not justify violence in response to english companies stocking what they want to stock

With all respect for your rights, what you call a resource of your country is an essential part of a global climate regulating system that affects every living thing on the planet. It just happens to be INSIDE the political borders of your country. If you ask me, your goverment is committing a crime against mankind.

I agree with you that the amazon is an important resource to the entire world even though it is inside our border, but there are better ways to solve this and seeing all comments here saying we should be fucked because of a president only half the country elected is messed up. Even more by not listening to what the population have to say about it. The government is commiting a crime against humanity, so in return should every Brazilian be held accountable?
Most countries who are pushing this forward did not give a damn until now about environment crimes, and guess what, they still dont care.
Just so you know most Brazilians also hate our government position about it.
To me a most reasonable way would be to either negotiate or do what you can at your own country because I dont trust our government capacity to negotiate.
Imagine if I said how should France run the louvre because the amount of cultural heritage to humanity inside of it is imeasurable. It just happens it is inside their borders... it does not sound right to me.

I am sorry if I didnt make myself clear. I do think there should be pressure on our government for what they are doing to the amazon, however I dont think the amazon should be treated as a world wide resource because it is not, despite its importance to the entire world (and mostly to us and our native brazilians).
I do think there should be pressure on our president and his associates alone, not on the entire nation.
Dont hate on me, I am just saying I dont think people should boycott our entire nation on the decision of a bad president as not everyone voted on him and most people dont agree with his position on this issue.
Like you I also dont like hypocrites, thats why I think that If UK or France or USA is concerned about the environment there are other ways to act, like stop supporting china’s factories, reducing radioactive disposal, increase renewable energy funds and sources and so on.
Because these same countries are being hypocritical, and most the people here cant see it, that I am saying they should not be telling us what to do.
