Because US is rich enough compare to 5 wealthy asian countries. Why does US waste money to build island where it can develop on real island and still profitable and give benefit,etc etc. This is a smart choice for USA. Malaysia need to make new island to attract tourist,make money,etc. But USA doesnt . Now which one is smarter ?

These “planned cities” just flat out look like resorts. Cities are much more than fancy buildings, where are the service workers going to live? Or will they just bus them out at the end of the day... love the channel but a lot of these constructions lately just look and feel like trophies and not marvels.

I doubt Forest City will really ''prosper''.
As a Malaysian Chinese, I''m still very concerned about Mainland Chinese buying properties of foreign countries, including ours. Their investments although help drive economic growth, those Chinese citizens themselves just buy back most of OUR property and increase the prices of our homes and apartments. I live 30 minutes away from Kuala Lumpur but i''ve seen so many empty lots, apartment rooms and shops. For me, I could list down a dozen or more projects like these in Malaysia that turned out to be white elephants. We have enough working and living spaces, we just need more affordable housing to provide for our real citizens.
Though if this project does really help Malaysian citizens, I don''t know how this would really improve the economy. It seems very contradictory when the government wants to improve economic activity yet spends about 100 Billion USD just to make four artificial islands that might even be underwater in the next few decades? Why don''t use that money to improve Johor Bahru''s existing infrastructure and technology rather than completing one from scratch.
And let''s not forget that the main point of Forest City is to hope that it''ll attract Singaporean citizens as well but I hardly see any SIngaporeans there. This is just another flippin colony of China''s ever expanding global domination.
