Your way of fighting is so violent (sorry but some members of Vietnamese team have wounds because of your players, not just accidents).Sinking Vietnamese fishing ships? Oh, come on. At least, stop that wrong policy. I know our fishermen were wrong first when taking your benefits inside your water, but that’s still not a good option.Indonesian trolling kids? They keep saying that Indonesian taught Vietnamese the guerrilla warfare. It’s funny like saying Vietnamese taught Indonesian the Islam. You know it never can be true. And, “Indonesian armed forces can defeat Vietnamese military easily”. Really?Terrorist attacks? It’s bad, and we must keep an eye on them. The size of Muslim community in Vietnam is so tiny compared to the whole population, and they have little direct connection to the rest of the Muslim world. But the chance is not zero yet. In Vietnam, if you respect our laws and follow the same customs in our culture, like “women don’t cover their face everytime they go outside”, you will be fine with no problem.Muslims are banned from pork and alcohol? No pork, no Vietnamese recipe (Pho is an exception). Drinking is normal until you drink too much. Sorry, but we can’t accept it.Chaotic traffic? We share this same thing.Corruption? Ours is high, too.Low-value currency? One more similar point here.Hot weather and eating rice? That is Southeast Asia.Low processing development in transportation infrastructures? Our first metro railway transit line in Hanoi costs 10 years, althought it is just 13 kilometers long and has no underground part.Garbage in nearly everywhere? It’s common in Vietnam.Racism toward Indonesians when visiting or living in East Asian countries? You are not alone. Even us, the most similar to them in terms of traditional culture have experienced racism badly, so I can’t imagine how it is for you. They share parts of Confucian thoughts and I, a man raised in the same environment (Vietnam) can answer this. Well educated, hard-working and bright skin are their common values (and some of us, too). They use chopsticks for most situations, like us. Southeast Asian with darker skin, more life-enjoying lifestyle and putting the real experiments up ahead into a higher position are “inferiors” to them (not all). Some Southeast Asians prefer using their hands while eating, but that is “primitive” to East Asians. Traditionally, Confucianists saw all other people who didn’t follow their way of living as “barbarians”, even Westerners in the 19th century. It’s partly alive until now. I know a number of Vietnamese calling your country the same thing, and this is so sad. I’m sorry.But totally, my view is not so negative. Every country have good and bad sides. Indonesia is a beautiful nation with wonderful destinations, cuisine, fashions, architectures, traditions and many more. The fact here is, we don’t understand each others enough while Vietnam belongs to the Chinese-influenced family with Korea and Japan (we are still Southeast Asians by linguistics, anthropology and geography); and Indonesia is familiar to India and Arabia. Hope we can become closer friends in the future.

Answering as a Singaporean. Below are my opinions and represent my understanding of the average Singaporeans view. Generalizations are present.First about what we like. We appreciate the workforce, be it domestic helpers (pembantu) who are a part of many households, or the working professionals in the banking sector. Indonesians are one of the communities that don''t often cause trouble when in Singapore and we appreciate that. They mostly obey they law and follow social etiquette. Indonesians are often friendly and easy going. The Indonesian kids that study here tend to have no trouble integrating and most of them are well off financially. Many have emigrated here in the past and aside from their names we would have no clue they weren''t one of us. We also like Indonesian food, a number of Indonesian restaurants have been popping up. And of course who can forget Indomie. Indonesians also contribute a lot to our tourism and healthcare sectors and for that we are grateful.
Secondly, about the things we worry about. We tend to be concerned about the political situation in Indonesia. We have had some sour history (Konfrontasi, “the little red dot”) and several other diplomatic disputes to be noted. We are worried about terrorist organizations that take hold in Indonesia. Jemaah Islamiyah planned several unsuccessful terrorist attacks on Singapore. One of their members (Mas Selamat) escaping his jail cell became a huge security concern here. Also the 1998 riots and the aftermath of the 2019 elections hold a place in the back of our minds and keep us wary.
Many of us feel the Indonesian economy has immense potential but don''t hold much faith in Indonesia reforming it''s corruption. Bali is a favorite hot spot for an ideal vacation and Batam is our little weekend getaway where unfortunately too many men undergoing a midlife crisis have found new “wives”. There is some ignorance with regards to Indonesia. For example most Singaporean generalize Indonesians into two categories - the villagers (domestic helpers, sailors) and the rich Indonesian-Chinese (professionals). There is a tendency to think of most Indonesians as being Malay despite the various people groups. Most Singaporean don''t consume Indonesian cultural exports so other than several legendary Dangdut singers, we don''t follow celebrities, TV and movies, music, etc.
Overall our perception of Indonesia is positive and most would agree that Indonesia is a good neighbor. We have no qualms with the Indonesians living here. We are slightly worried about Indonesia''s political situation and we feel Indonesia must clean up it''s corruption to maximize it''s economic potential. Thank you for reading.

Filipino here.
Indonesia is Philippines 2.0. If you don’t get what I mean, it is like the Philippines but with more and bigger islands, better cuisine, much more authentic cultures, less identity crisis and currently, a more polite president (I am a Joko Widodo fan by the way, but I am not that knowledgeable of his policies).
Indonesia should be the rightful leader of Southeast Asia due to its sheer size in geography and people. I am fascinated that such a country, currently mired in political, economic and social problems, has the potential to be the region’s shining beacon of what a democracy should be. The key word here is potential. And it seems to be heading in that direction.As a fellow developing country, I think we have much more to learn from Indonesia in terms of long-term planning and sustainable policies. Indonesia seems to have plenty of those, which helped the country come back stronger from setbacks, be it economic or political.I apologize for not knowing too much about your political and economic history but based on hunch and what I randomly read from the internet, Indonesia is improving in small but solid steps. In many ways, they have better approaches to similar issues than the Philippines.

I see that my country is still in developing progress, but we got some obstacle.They are people mindset, which makes so difficult to move people toward better mindset (ex : people loves to littering anywhere! including place where there’s a sign to not litter).Some people here can’t even keep public facility in good form. It’s like they have a destroying hand which can wreck anything they touch (ex : in makeup & cosmetics store, the tester products are heavily wrecked, and the damages are looked like caused by hard impact on it or intended action of wrecking it)Sexual harrassment is common thing here. Most guy here are using moment to take advantage of touching female’s body (hands, shoulder, neck, thigh, hip). Because they have very big lust inside their mind. There are some cases that foreign female tourists are touched at their female area by online driver on purpose. Very shameful for my country people bad behavior.Corruption is very high, due to the law system. The law is sharp to low class people but so dull to high class people, thats why the poor ones will still be poor, and the rich ones will be richer. If you have money, you are immune to most crime here.But in other side, we can cover the dark side of this nation by the archipelago view, beautiful nature landscape, delicious food from each region across nation, kind hearted people are still around to keep things in good atmosphere.
